JJVA News from Coach Andrew, President JJVA

It is hard to believe that the Travel and Local season are winding down. It seems like just yesterday Adis and I were trying to figure out how to organize and handle all the new players who joined us in December. We were excited, but at the same time challenged to get coaches and practice time for everyone and still keep a high standard of training. The challenges have been large at times and we have done our best to meet them. We are committed to continuing to be the best volleyball training center in North Florida we will continue striving to offer the best services possible to our players, parents and coaches. We are excited about the future of JJVA as we continue to attract new players and coaches to the JJVA Training Center for a catalog of volleyball activities from Volley Tots to Adults.

We are also excited about the 17N Rox Adis team winning the Big South NQ Tournament and qualifying for the National Championships, as well as our 18N Rox team finishing 3rd in the Big South NQ. Several Regional teams made a great showing in the Big South as well and overall all of our teams advanced a level from the previous year.

All of the Local teams have been competing each month and showing great improvement. The players at FSCJ and JJVA have been working hard on their skills and their competitive game knowledge. Coach Rivera, Coach Miriam, Coach John, Coach Snipes and Coach Bowers have worked hard to direct these hard working local division coaches and players. The one day events have been great learning experiences and the gym is always buzzing with excitement when these teams practice and play.

JJVA Staff Changes

All organizations experience staff changes from time to time as people go through life changes. Due to family emergencies, spouse job transfers and the need for new staff, I would like to announce the following changes in the JJVA Staff:

Ginny Alexander- Membership Services Director

We have created a new position to assist all of our members and our coaches. This administrative position is our new   Membership Services Director. Ginny Alexander, a native of Jacksonville Beach, will fill this position officially on May 1st, 2012. Ginny was a multiple sport athlete at Fletcher High school and a scholarship athlete at the University of Alabama, Birmingham. She has extensive volleyball coaching experience having held positions at Michigan State, Temple, Utah State and Converse. She has also held leadership and administrative positions with the Jacksonville Police Athletic League and the City of Asheville, North Carolina. We are lucky to have her join the company. You may have seen Ginny around already in the JJVA Center as she has already helped coach a team and run a few tournaments. Ginny can be reached at ginny@jjva.com

William Murphy- Chief Financial Officer

“Bill” is not really new as he has been working with JJVA for the last several months to audit and reorganize our accounting and finance system. The planning stage is almost over and the transition to our new systems will take place during the summer as our camp season begins. Bill has served as a financial officer for the Coca Cola Company and for Allied Steel. We are fortunate to have him join us on a part time basis to assist us with our accounting systems.

Kelly Beckstead- Bookkeeper

We have created a new bookkeeper position at JJVA. As JJVA has grown it has become evident we need to move the responsibilities for financial bookkeeping to one staff member with no other JJVA responsibilities. At the recommendation of our CFO, Kelly was hired as a part time bookkeeper in April and will be responsible for the day to day bookkeeping responsibilities. Kelly works as an auditor for the City of Jacksonville and received her accounting degree from Flagler College. Kelly can be reached by email at Kelly@jjva.com.

Rachael Stringer – Travel Coordinator

Rachael joins JJVA in the capacity of travel coordinator. She will have the responsibility for hotel room blocks, coaches travel arrangements and hotel contracts for home tournaments. Rachael teaches IT systems for a local university and has served as an administrative assistant for a college president. Rachael is a USAV certified official and has also coached in the college ranks. She has also served as the results manager and AES liaison during our home tournaments. This experience makes her a great choice for the JJVA travel coordinator.   Rachael can be reached at Travel@jjva.com.
