Letter from Mary Andrew, the JJVA Founder, President
& COO to the JJVA Members
Summer is a busy
time in the volleyball world with summer camps, leagues,
lessons, national tournaments, beach ball and high
performance competitions.
Add to this the Olympics in August 2008 and you have
quite a summer.
As we sat down to evaluate the year we had, were very
excited about the progress of the entire JJVA club. Our
seniors are going on to college and most, if not all of
them, will play volleyball at the collegiate level. Three of
our juniors are already committed also. This is very
exciting for us and for them. In addition, our young and
upcoming players have all distinguished themselves with
great effort and achievement on and off the court. The
coaches certainly distinguished themselves this season with
tremendous dedication and effort.
During these evaluations we also addressed our weaknesses
and desires for reaching more youth, boys and adult players
with programs that will not only teach and improve physical
skills, but which will also develop sportsmanship and
citizenship. We are determined to reach out to more of the
younger players in our community and to develop the boys
youth program. In order to do this effectively the JJVA
Executive Board determined that JJVA should seriously seek
to move into its own training facility. This has been a long
desired and well searched out project. It has been a dream
of many JJVA members for the past five years.
WOW! GET READY!
Due to a generous and anonymous contribution of
$50,000 plus another $25,000 in
matching grant funds,
added to the funds raised from the raffle of the Del Rio Sky
Box this past season and to the hard work of all of our
staff, coaches and parents for the past three years, we are
now preparing to move into our own 3 court training facility
this fall...possibly even by September. This facility will
house 3 volleyball courts, a pro shop, a physical training
facility, staff offices, storage, a lobby and a concession
area. It is
located directly off the exit at 9A and US1. This was an
answer to many years of prayer and hard work and we will be
challenged in the future to serve the volleyball community
well in thankfulness for these gifts.
How Amazing!
This facility will allow us to tailor all of our programs to
fit our needs and to train at all levels of the
sport. Families can play and train together. We are putting
together many new and exciting programs to better serve our
members. Some are cutting edge and would take a book to
explain – believe me – you will be as excited as I am! It
will take time, but we are willing to put in the time and
effort.
As a Result of the Generous Gift We Have An Immediate
Goal – To raise $25,000 by August 1st
- to get the matching $25,000. This would bring the
total gift to JJVA to $100,000. To do this we need your
immediate help. The donor will give us another
$25,000 if we can raise $25,000 by August 1st,
2008. I know we can do this – I am asking for your help –
please download the form that is coming with this letter and
seek out any donation you possibly can – for any amount (no
donation is too small or too large). For every dollar
donated – we get another dollar! How Great! We will issue to
anyone who requests one, a donation letter for the IRS as we
are a non-profit organization. The executive board has
already raised some of these funds – we will keep you
notified of the progress as we now officially begin this
drive. These funds will all be used to get the building
ready for use by our members and to develop new programs.
Also, everyone who donates $500 or more (and thus gets us
$500 more matching dollars) will be forever immortalized as
a JJVA Building Founder Member on a gold plaque
in the lobby of the building. There will be other goodies
too for everyone who donates!
This is a new era for our club – after 20 years of hard work
and continued innovation – we seek to keep moving ahead, to
reach more young people with a great sport and lifelong
activity. We seek to provide a positive place for our
members to play, work, compete and grow. As with all dreams,
we will have to continue to work hard and work together with
strong leadership and enlightened followership. I have great
faith in our community and I know we can meet any of the
forthcoming challenges.
Thank you for the
help and support you have given in the past and for your
continued support in the future.
Sincerely,
Mary F. Andrew

*Please feel free to
download and copy the donation form – make as many
copies as you need.
If you cannot download it and need forms, you can
email the JJVA staff at
info@jjva.com and tell us what you need and we will get
the forms to you. If someone makes a donation and does not
want to fill out a form – please just be sure to designate
the donation as a “Matching Fund” donation when you mail it
to us or give it to us. You can mail the donations to the
JJVA, P.O. Box 54869, Jax FL 32245 or you can give them to
Adis (if you can locate him) or myself at my box in the FCCJ
Athletic Office.
**I am going to start the ball rolling – I am today making a
pledge for a personal donation of $150 (to become $300) to
the “JJVA Matching Fund” - because I believe in our dream
and our players and coaches.
We have 5 weeks to get this done – let’s do it!
